Over 59,000 car seats recalled due to safety issue with seat anchorage

WASHINGTON. Dorel’s juvenile group is recalling nearly 60,000 car seats due to faulty seat anchors, increasing the risk of injury in a crash.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has recalled several models of Safety 1st and Maxi-Cosi car seats, warning consumers about defective car seats.

The NHTSA has stated that Dorel child seat lower anchorages can fail and allow the seat to detach, which does not meet federal safety requirements for child seats. Dorel received no recall-related injury reports.

Models recalled include some Safety 1st onBoard 35 Secure Tech, Safety 1st Secure Tech Infant Base, Maxi-Cosi Coral XP, Maxi-Cosi Mico XP Max, Maxi-Cosi Mico XP, Maxi-Cosi Mico Luxe+ and Maxi-Cosi Infant Base child . places.

According to the recall, the seats were manufactured between May 2020 and February 2023. Impact-resistant car seats were sold in the United States and Canada, but shipments were also made to other countries.

The company said it will contact customers with recalled items via email or regular mail. The notification letters are expected to be sent by April 7, according to the NHTSA.
