Operator Cholo Dogs scatters Mexican “pigs” all over Orlando.

Jordan Eichenblatt will tell you that he is not the owner of Cholo Dogs.

He attributes the business to Franco Furtero.

“We (Eichenblatt and his business partner Chris Delahose) went on a trip to Mexico for one of our clients and came across this hot dog cart,” Eichenblatt said. “And he had hot dogs, we talk to him, and he said he was moving to Orlando. We’re like, “We’re from Orlando.” His name is Franco. We became friends and he said, “Why don’t you guys do this for me?”

So the Cholo Dogs have made it to Orlando, and its mysterious owner remains a mystery.

Eichenblatt’s story is not as mysterious as the Central Florida native.

“I grew up in Orlando — born and raised. (I) left in 2009, went to college, went and sort of started my career, and then somehow I came back here to my dad’s couch around 2012, and I’ve been here ever since.” – he said.

Eichenblatt certainly made the most of his return home. In addition to Cholo Dogs, he is also the co-owner of a T-shirt company and an advertising agency.

“(I like) anything creative and fun that makes people smile. We have a great team – our advertising agency is called HIFIVE – we have a great team there and everyone is basically part of everything we do. We bought Orlando Shirts, which was founded by two sisters,” he said. “Life is too short not to have an interesting job.”

According to Eichenblatt, the fun with Cholo Dogs started in 2019. However, the business ran into quite a hurdle early on.

“Boom, COVID hit. And it was like figuring out what to do after that. I mean, we were only open – it seemed like forever – but from September 2019 to February 2020,” he said.

The Cholo Dog team ended up launching their own outdoor food truck event called the Parking Lot Party to help bring in customers again.

“Maybe you could fit about 15 cars in the parking lot where we had it and we had about eight truckloads of food and each of them sold out in the pouring rain and then we did it the next month and again in the pouring rain, sold. out,” Eichenblatt said.

The event turned out to be a success and helped the business survive the worst times of the pandemic. Since then, the Cholo Dogs have made it to some notable locations, the Amway Center and, soon, Exploria Stadium.

In the latest issue of Florida Foodie, Eichenblatt talks about “sausage throws” all over Orlando. He also talks about how some of the hot dogs got their names and the April Fools’ pranks that the Cholo Dogs put on.
