FRISCO, Texas – With two games remaining on the schedule, North Texas SC is looking to complete a successful preseason ahead of the season opener at the end of March.

Herbert Endely, who entered his first year as a professional at the 2023 MLS SuperDraft, is excited to make his mark on the team. “I look forward to playing and improving at a professional level. This game is a lot harder and more physical than college so I just look forward to playing and getting better.”

The recent first-round selection contributes to a versatile playing style capable of playing both as a winger and as a defender.

Entering the season with new players and staff, first-year head coach Javier Cano is looking forward to a strong campaign, with high hopes for the club. “We expect that we will take first place in the league and fight for the championship. I think we are on the right track.”

With many new signings, there is a strong emphasis on hard work and maintaining consistency in training, as well as forming strong relationships.

“We see improvement every week by talking to each other and getting to know each other better,” Cano said. “You can see that we are improving every game and building our identity. We are still far from what we want, but we are on the right track.”

Midfielder Andre Costa, who returned from last year’s conference semi-finals, has high hopes for this year’s group.

“Last year we had a really good season, but it left a bitter aftertaste of not being able to win the championship, that’s definitely our goal this season,” said the 21-year-old. “We have a core team that was here last year, so we just want to develop it and play even better than last season.”

Among a list that includes new faces in both playing and coaching divisions, Costa is a familiar face and veteran leader. “Players always have a hard time when they join a new squad and that happened to me last year. Fortunately, I had wonderful teammates who helped me. It’s a long process because chemistry builds over time, but as games progress and weeks go by, we’ll get better and better.”

NTSC will end its preseason with matches against Sporting KC II on March 9 and Houston Dynamo 2 on March 18 before the start of the regular season.
