North Texas airports and airlines work to recover from FAA computer system crash

Airports and airlines in North Texas are working to get back to normal after the FAA faced a systemic glitch that caused many flights to be delayed or canceled altogether.

The Federal Aviation Administration suspended all domestic flights across the United States on Wednesday morning due to a computer system failure and ordered airlines to suspend all domestic flights for several hours while officials worked to fix the system.

According to the FAA website, NOTAM, also known as “Air Assignment Notice”, contains important information for flight personnel.

The FAA said these notifications alert flight personnel to abnormal conditions in the national airspace system.

Federal Aviation Administration announced on twitter that the nationwide ground stop was canceled and normal air traffic operations gradually resumed shortly before 8:00 a.m. after the “Air Mission Notification” system failed.

According to the FAA, the agency is continuing to investigate the cause of the initial outage.
