Nolte: More Disney Doom as Marvel’s Ant-Man 3 Crashes 71 Percent

More trouble on the Disney/Marvel front as Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantum Mania dives 71 percent in the second weekend. It’s worse than previous Marvel stinkers Thor: Love and Thunderwhich dropped 68 percent in its second weekend, and Eternals, which collapsed by 62%.

By the end of the weekend Ant-Man will earn another $30 million for a total of just $165 million.

It may sound like a lot of money, and it is, but Ant-Man 3 The production cost $200 million and the advertising cost about $100 million more, giving a worldwide break-even point of about $550 million. For now, Ant-Man 3 earned $265 million worldwide.

Last weekendAnt-Man and the Wasp: Quantum Mania opened exactly where child abusers at Disney had hoped, with a four-day gross of $120 million. This was most likely due to Marvel’s dead ends coming to the fore and actor Paul Rudd, who remains an appealing character on screen. The problem now is the lousy reviews (the second worst in Marvel history) and the killer B Cinemascore. Ant-Man 3 this is not a movie that people recommend to others or are going to watch again. This repeat business from the nerd/internet porn/marijuana crowd is critical to Marvel’s success.

See below:

Ant-Man 3 itself is critical to Marvel’s continued success. It represents the beginning of the fifth phase, including the introduction of the phase’s main villain, Kang the Conqueror (Jonathan Majors).

The whole world can feel the air coming out of Marvel’s once impenetrable balloon.

Marvel woke up and now the golden goose is sick.

Marvel will get a taste of the good old days when Guardians of the Galaxy 3 comes out in May. This is the only franchise – unlike the awake, emasculated Thor – that still enjoys the favor of the public. After that we get Miracles (10th of November), Captain America: New World Order (May 2024) Thunderbolts (July 2024) and Blade (September 2024) before another sure thing comes along with Deadpool 3 in November 2024,

I’m sure out of these six new titles, we can expect 25 gay kisses, nine drag queens, and regular airing of whiny racial slurs.

Gee, I can’t wait.

Also at the box office this week cocaine bear opened to a respectable $20 million. This movie looks like fun.

Overproduction this weekend Jesus Revolutionthe faith-based proposal, which was expected to be in the single digits, instead earned $13.5 million.

Finally, thanks to repeat-repeat-repeat from the previously mentioned Nerd/Internet-Porn/Marijuana coterie, Avatar: Path of Water continues to hold another $4.25 million this weekend, bringing the domestic total to $665 million.
