No one was hurt after a fire spread to school buses and trucks at a facility in Northwest Dallas

Firefighters said no one was hurt Thursday when the fire spread to several school buses parked in an industrial estate in northwest Dallas and ignited compressed natural gas tanks.

A Dallas Fire and Rescue spokesman said that at 3:30 p.m., numerous emergency calls reported an 18-wheeler fire and reports of an explosion in a parking lot containing 18-wheelers and school buses.

By the time firefighters arrived, the flames had spread to several vehicles and firefighters learned that the vehicles were running on natural gas and their CNG tanks could explode, the spokesman said. Crews focused on putting out the fire and spraying water on nearby vehicles to keep their LNG tanks cool and protected.

By Thursday evening, crews were working to put out hot spots and continued to protect other LNG tanks of the remaining vehicles parked in the parking lot.

Information about what caused the fire and how many trucks and buses were damaged is not yet available.

The company appears to be part of the NGV Global Group, who describes himself online as a global technology company that designs, manufactures, markets and services medium and heavy duty commercial vehicles powered by natural gas sold worldwide.
