New Braunfels special education teacher arrested for alleged inappropriate relationship with student

NEW BROWNFELS, TX – According to the City of New Braunfels, a New Braunfels High School teacher has been arrested for inappropriate behavior towards a student.

According to a press release from the city of New Braunfels, Bryant Shepard, 41, was seen making inappropriate contact with a female student on campus.

New Braunfels Independent School District officials notified the New Braunfels Police Department of the alleged incident on Thursday, March 2, prompting an investigation.

According to a press release, the investigation prompted the NBPD’s Criminal Investigation Division to issue an arrest warrant, which was served by the US Marshal Lone Star Fugitive Task Force.

Shepard was found at a San Antonio home and arrested Tuesday.

He is currently in custody at the Bexar County Jail. Court records show his bail was set at $250,000.

Shepard, who could potentially face additional charges, is expected to be transferred to the Comal County Jail.

Inappropriate teacher-student relationships are a second-degree felony that can result in a prison sentence of 2 to 20 years and a fine of up to $10,000.

A Facebook thank you message from New Braunfels ISD in December 2020 stated that Shepard was a special education math teacher.

“I got a special education because I got the opportunity to work in the New Braunfels School District,” Shepard was quoted as saying by the post.

Anyone who believes they are Shepard’s victim or knows someone who may be Shepard is advised to call the New Braunfels Police at 830-221-4100.
