Motorcycle Crash Claims Life in Manchester Township
Manchester Township Police Department responded to a fatal motorcycle crash on Wednesday, September 20th. The accident occurred around 4:35 p.m. in the area of Pasadena Road near the intersection of Buckingham Road. A witness at the scene immediately contacted the police upon observing the incident. The motorcyclist, identified as 27-year-old Robert Trout of Lanoka Harbor, NJ, sustained severe injuries and was provided life-saving measures by officers and EMTs from the Manchester Emergency Medical Services. Despite their efforts, Trout ultimately succumbed to his injuries after being transported to Southern Ocean Medical Center.
The investigation into the crash revealed that Trout was riding a 2017 Yamaha motorcycle, traveling westbound on Pasadena Road. He attempted to pass another vehicle when he lost control of the motorcycle. As a result, he ran off the roadway and collided with a tree. The impact with the tree caused Trout to be ejected from the motorcycle. Fortunately, he was wearing a DOT approved helmet at the time of the crash.
The Manchester Township Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit is currently investigating the incident. Initial findings suggest that speed and driver error played significant roles in the crash. The roadway where the accident occurred was closed for several hours to conduct a thorough investigation. The Ocean County Sheriff’s Department Crime Scene Investigation Unit, Manchester Emergency Medical Services EMTs and firefighters, Robert Wood Johnson Paramedics, and Priced Rite Towing Service provided assistance at the scene.
