Home of NFL star Joe Mixon cordoned off by police, sister says he was not involved in shooting

Police surrounded the home of running back Joe Mixon of the Cincinnati Bengals after deputies responded to reports of a shooting in the area late Monday night, Fox 19 Now reports.

No arrests were made and the scene has since been cleared. Mixon’s involvement in the incident is still unknown.

The shooting was reported around 8:30 p.m. in the town of Anderson, an area about 13 miles southeast of downtown Cincinnati.

The publication reported that police confirmed that the juvenile was taken to the hospital with “minor injuries”.

The runner’s sister, Shalonda Mixon, says Mixon was not involved in the shooting of the minor. It is reported by WLWT News 5 in Cincinnati.

The crime scene tape was strung over two houses, one of which was Mixon’s home, the exit was confirmed by court documents, and one clue was marked in the house’s yard while the police were examining the scene.

Deputies from the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department were seen knocking on Mixon’s door around 11:30 p.m. to introduce themselves and giving orders to the homeowner to exit.

At 00:15 the police allowed the car to drive up to the house.

The police were then seen entering Mixon’s home around 1:40 am. the outlet said.

Around 3:30 am, the police filmed the crime scene and began to leave the scene. They confirmed that there was one person in the house, It is reported by Fox 19 Now.

Mixon, 26, was selected by the Cinincianti Bengals from the University of Oklahoma in the second round of the 2017 NHL Entry Draft. He is entering the third year of his four-year, $48 million contract with the Bengals.

On January 21, 2023, the NFL star was issued an arrest warrant for one count of aggravated threat after being accused of pointing a gun at a woman in Cincinnati. This warrant has since been rejected.

In 2017, Mixon reached a civil settlement with a woman he punched in the face while a recruit in Oklahoma. Mixon was suspended for the entire 2014 collegiate season as a result of the incident.
