‘More words’: Twitter Blue customers can now post longer tweets

On Wednesday, the social network announced that Twitter Blue followers can now post longer tweets.

“More words, more words,” the company tweeted repeatedly, before ending with, “Sometimes you need more words. Longer tweets are now available for US @TwitterBlue followers.”

The company has expanded the character limit to 4,000. Every Twitter user can read long tweets, but only blue followers can create them.

However, standard media posting, polling, and hashtag restrictions still apply.

Twitter Blue is a voluntary paid monthly subscription that adds a blue checkmark to your account and offers early access to select new features such as Edit Tweet. With the improved service, Twitter Blue followers will now see fewer ads, post longer videos, and get more visibility for their tweets.

The service will cost $8 per month for web users and $11 per month for iPhone users.

After Elon Musk bought Twitter for $44 billion in October, he launched a service that provides blue checks to anyone willing to pay $8 a month. But it was inundated with imposter accounts, including from some companies posing as Musk’s Tesla and SpaceX, so Twitter suspended the service days after it launched.
