Xavier Calliste and his 23-year-old mother Abigail Margaret Williams were found at a bus station in North Carolina.

Investigators were able to trace Williams’ journey as she left the domestic violence shelter on January 25. She and Calliste had arrived at the orphanage four days earlier on Sunday.

Kallista was ordered by the court to remain in the shelter.

Williams was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant for interfering with child custody.

Authorities will keep her in North Carolina until she is extradited back to Texas.

Calliste was unharmed and is in the care of Child Protective Services until arrangements are made by the Texas Police to return him to Smith County.
