Military personnel say a Puerto Rican man died in a crash on I-95 in Flagler County.

FLAGLER COUNTY, Florida. A 48-year-old Puerto Rican man died in a Friday night crash on Interstate 95 in Flagler County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The accident occurred around 9 p.m. north of Palm Coast Parkway as the pickup truck carrying the man was driving north on the center lane of I-95, the military said.

According to the accident report, for reasons unknown at the time of this writing, the pickup suddenly changed lanes and crashed right side into the left rear of an SUV in the outer lane.

The vehicles left the roadway, turning east onto a grassy roadside and into a strip of woods, where they both rolled over and stopped on their right side, the servicemen said.

The report said the pickup truck driver suffered minor injuries and a passenger died. A 29-year-old Jacksonville man — a passenger among two other occupants of the SUV who the military said were unharmed — also suffered minor injuries, according to the FHP.

Law enforcement officers believe that the pickup passenger was not wearing a seat belt.
