Megyn Kelly slams Don Lemon for tantrum on CNN co-host: ‘I would have fired him’

Megyn Kelly says she would make sure Don Lemon was out of a job if he criticized her in front of co-workers, as he did with his CNN This Morning co-host Caitlan Collins.

“If anyone ever yelled at me to the point where I was clearly upset and ran out of the studio, I would fire that person,” the former Fox News star said during her SiriusXM podcast on Friday.

Kelly said Lemon, who lost his solo primetime appearance on CNN as part of an overhaul being carried out by new network boss Chris Licht, “better be careful” as his new show is “on its last legs without even starting its first legs.” “.

Morning show Lemon, along with Collins and Poppy Harlow, took the last place in the ranking compared to the competition.

Kelly praised Collins as a “competent reporter”, although she wondered if her previous job as a reporter for Tucker Carlson’s right-wing news site Daily Caller contributed to tensions with the liberal Lemon.

In the summer of 2021, Lemon admitted to friends that he “didn’t like” Collins working at the Daily Caller before CNN hired her to cover the Trump White House.

“They don’t have a good relationship at all and I don’t think CNN is interested in getting rid of her,” Kelly said of the co-hosts.

Kelly recalled her own experience as a television news anchor for Fox News as well as NBC News.

She even reminisced about her argument with then-Fox colleague Chris Wallace.

“I once had a serious disagreement with Chris Wallace,” Kelly recalls. “We’ve never yelled at each other and you pick it up right after that.”

Kelly said she “spent more hours than I can count with a lot of guys with big egos… and never have I yelled at a colleague or made him yell at me.”

She predicted that other women who had co-hosted with Lemon would tell their own stories about how he showed his character.

“I’ll take a chance right now and tell you it’s not the first time,” Kelly said.

“There will be another woman he is involved with – I guarantee you – who will come out and say, “Me too.”

She added, “Because if you act like this towards a colleague with whom you share the air and share the show, it won’t be the first time…”

As The Post reported exclusively on Thursday, Lemon, 56, confronted Collins, 30, after the show aired on Dec. 8 and threw a tantrum, accusing her of interrupting it during the broadcast.

“Don yelled at Caitlan, who was clearly upset and ran out of the studio,” a source familiar with the situation told The Post.

CNN head Chris Licht got wind of Lemon’s eruption and is said to have been shocked, sources told The Post.

Another source said that Licht sent the show’s producer to talk to Lemon and suggested that he set aside a private day to “cool off”.

A week before the December 8 attacks, Lemon got into an awkward argument with Collins and Harlow on the air, arguing that the U.S. men’s soccer team should be paid more than the women’s team, despite the men’s team’s relative failure at the World Cup.

The row made headlines, with the Daily Beast quoting Lemon as saying that men are “more fun to watch” – a comment that Lemon quickly returned and insisted was a joke.
