Meet the unicorn, Wednesday Addams and more at Ambleside Unplugged! in San Angelo

The celebration will only take place in April, but tickets will go on sale from January 19th.

SAN ANGELO, Texas. This spring in San Angelo, you can expect a “real” unicorn, Wednesday Addams doppelgänger, live music and more.

On April 22, from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm, Ambleside Concho Valley will host a one-day celebration called “Ambleside Unplugged!”, which will take place on the 100 block of W Twohig/125 W Twohig.

The event is hosted by a local school and early bird tickets are on sale for $5 starting January 19 at Corner Stops 1 and 2.

According to Ambleside teacher Rebecca Aydala, all members of the community can attend this new event as long as tickets last.

“From cookery to henna artists to a guy who makes leather magazines with a hand tool…[to] live bands, dancing, we have a unicorn…” said Aydala.

The main purpose of the event is to connect with the community as well as encourage San Angelo to learn more about Ambleside Concho Valley, a Christian classical school that follows the Charlotte Mason method.

This is a type of learning style that focuses heavily on the combination of grammar, logic, and rhetoric. The school itself has about 40 students from preschool to senior school age.

“Our school is very special, very niche, the only one in the community that looks like it,” board member Ashley Jones said.

“We really want people to know that we are here and that there is a different way of looking at art and school and education,” she added.

The school also prioritizes creativity, allowing students to explore card illustrations, painting, and other such skills.

The importance of art is a key priority for Ambleside Unplugged! and this activity is specially designed for families.

For now, visitors will be served by 10 local food trucks, as well as paints and drinks (one for children and one for adults) and a live pianist.

“There is something about coming together… it creates a sense of community,” Aydala said.

“And you learn that you can be from different backgrounds, different cultures, different socioeconomic statuses, and that you can come together and create this inclusive space where people can enjoy something,” she added.

Even though the event won’t take place until a few months from now, the planning process is something Ambleside is already passionate about.
