Mark Cuban Cost Plus Drug Co. partners with a Nashville firm to lower drug costs

Through the partnership, RxPreferred Pharmacy Employers will have access to all drugs through Cost Plus Drugs.

According to a press release, Dallas-based Mark Cuban Cost Plus Drug Co. partnered with Nashville-based pharmaceutical company RxPreferred Benefits to improve access to care and reduce drug costs.

Through the partnership, employers who use RxPreferred pharmacy benefits will have access to all drugs through Cost Plus Drugs as part of their benefits packages. Benefits were previously only offered to individuals outside of their insurance package.

“Our partnership with RxPreferred is another step towards bringing health care transparency and reducing drug costs to individuals and families across the county,” Mark Cuban said in a press release. “We are excited to be working with a like-minded company that aligns with our goals and prioritizes improving access to affordable prescriptions.”

Mark Cuban Cost Plus Drug and RxPreferred plan to expand into local independent pharmacies in the future.

“There is an educational component for employers and employees to help people and their families access the right medicines at the best price and lead a healthy lifestyle,” Jeff Malone, CEO of RxPreferred, said in a press release.

In December 2022, Mark Cuban Cost Plus Drug Co. partnered with Kentucky-based EmsanaRx to provide employers with low-cost drugs.

The partnership is a response to a growing desire by employers and healthcare providers to reduce wasteful spending and increase transparency.

Mark Cuban Cost Plus Drug was launched in January 2022 as an innovator committed to revolutionizing the way the pharmaceutical industry operates. The company currently offers over 1,000 prescription products that are delivered by mail. He works with health insurance plans, managed care organizations, pharmacy benefit managers, and self-insured employers.
