Man with ‘machete style knife’ fatally shot by officers, Fort Worth police say

FORT WORTH, Texas — Fort Worth detectives have started investigating a deadly shooting that involved officers Saturday evening.

Police said they got a 911 call on Jan. 7 at 5:45 p.m. from a woman saying her adult son was in her home and possibly armed with a knife.

Officers got to the scene in the 3500 block of Wedgworth Road South and saw the man with what they described as “a large machete style knife.” According to police, officers told the man to drop the knife.

Two officers shot the man after he “presented the officers with a deadly threat,” police said. He received medical aid but was pronounced dead at the scene.
