Man sentenced to 36 months in Department of Corrections for repeatedly beating dog

LEE COUNTY, Florida. Back in March 2022, a man named Marcus Chiddister was caught repeatedly beating his own dog in his car before closing the door and leaving for a gas station.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office Animal Cruelty Task Force investigated and found more information about Chiddister. A dog named Sheeba was injured, and according to Sheriff Marceno, “The ACTF and the US Marshals Fugitive Task Force stopped at nothing to find and arrest Chiddister for animal cruelty.”

In May 2022, an emergency motion was granted to remove Sheba from Chiddister custody.

And now, as of Tuesday, January 24, 2023, Chiddister has been sentenced to 36 months in the Department of Corrections, 24 months of state probation, and must complete an anger management program, undergo a psychiatric evaluation, and never own a dog again.
