North Carolina man accused of kidnapping and raping Dallas teen found in barn

The man faces multiple charges, accused of kidnapping a girl from Dallas and taking her to North Carolina. She was rescued from the shed behind the house.

Relatives of a 13-year-old girl thank law enforcement for finding the teenager and thank members of the community for their support.

FOX 4 chooses not to name the family or teen because she was reportedly the victim of sexual abuse.

Police say Jorge Camacho, 34, took a 13-year-old girl outside her Dallas home and committed several sex crimes against her before she was found locked in a barn more than 1,000 miles from her North Carolina home.

The Davidson County Sheriff’s Office says Camacho communicated with the teen via a social media platform. The content corresponded to courtship and seduction.

Bianca Davis is the CEO of New Friends New Life, a non-profit organization dedicated to the recovery of sexually exploited teenage girls and more.

“Traffickers are really after the daily needs of teenagers and places where teenagers hang out. And often it happens on the Internet,” she said. “The median age of girls being trafficked here in the United States is 15.”

According to her family, the teenager went missing on March 1. Video cameras in the Dallas orphanage area later captured a suspicious car belonging to Camacho.

Working with the Dallas Police Department, the Dallas FBI notified North Carolina law enforcement. He was arrested on Friday. The teenager was found locked in the shed where Camacho lived.

Trop Sim lives in a house on the property. She says that Camacho is a friend of her son. Sim says she has been letting Camacho live in the barn for the past two years.

“I just accepted it. Helped him,” she said. “I’m not connected to what he does because I didn’t know he was that kind of person.”

Camacho is charged with eight criminal offenses, including kidnapping, restraint of liberty, human trafficking, statutory rape and more.

“While this is alarming, we are not surprised because this is how human trafficking happens in our community,” Davis said.

The child underwent a medical examination and is now back in Texas.

“It could have been worse, although it’s hard to imagine,” Davis said. “She could have disappeared for a long time, or she could have been killed.”

Additional payments are expected. Federal charges are excluded. Camacho’s bail is currently $1.25 million.
