Man convicted in 2018 of fatal shooting at Fort Worth Save A Lot sentenced to life in prison

A 26-year-old man was sentenced to life in prison on Monday after being found guilty of capital murder in connection with the fatal shooting during an armed robbery of a grocery store in Fort Worth more than five years ago.

According to the Tarrant County District Attorney’s office, Marquis Sifo was charged with the murder of 26-year-old Raymond Huerta on January 11, 2018, at the Save A Lot grocery store in the 5500 block of James Avenue in south Fort Worth. .

According to online records from Tarrant County Jails, Sipho was arrested later that month.

On Monday, a Tarrant County jury found Sipho guilty of capital murder, prosecutors said in a statement. He was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Sipho shot Huerta several times before attacking his wife, who worked at a grocery store at the time, prosecutors said. She then broke into a store safe, prosecutors said.

The statement said that Huerta was in the area to bring lunch to his wife and make sure she was safe.

During the trial, prosecutors said Sipho, another man who helped him commit the crime, and two women who framed the grocery store were seen “on other videos” celebrating the robbery.

According to a press release Monday, Tarrant County Attorney William Knight told jurors that Sipho’s actions were those of a “cold-blooded killer.”
