Man ate almost 18 bagels in eating contest: ‘They were hard to eat’

LAS VEGAS – How many bagels can you eat in one sitting? Probably not as much as Jeffrey Esper.

Esper took home the grand prize after nearly eating 18 bagels in eight minutes at the Siegel Bagel Eating Contest in Las Vegas.

The competition is timed to coincide with National Bagel Day.

Not only did he set a new world record, but he also took home a $7,500 cash prize.

“They were hard to eat,” he told FOX 5 Vegas. “But I like these bagels, with a nice crispy crust and a little bit of cream cheese. I think it was amazing.”
