Man accused of shooting at car on Central Expressway arrested after leading police chase

A 28-year-old man accused of shooting at a car while driving on a central expressway early Sunday morning was arrested after he reportedly led a high-speed chase in Richardson and Dallas.

Dallas police said it started just after 1:30 a.m. when Lajon Fitzgerald Martin approached three people who were eating in the 2400 block of N. Haskell Avenue.

Martin reportedly tried to talk to them, but people didn’t want to talk to him, so they left the area.

As they were driving north on the Central Expressway, police said, Martin pursued them and fired at their vehicle.

He reportedly continued to follow their car into Richardson when Police Officer Richardson tried to stop Martin.

Other law enforcement joined him as Martin led the police on a chase that reached over 100 miles per hour.

The chase returned to Dallas on the North Central Expressway, where Martin was taken into custody.

No casualties have been reported as a result of the persecution and detention.

Martin was taken to the Dallas County Jail. His charges were not released.
