Louisiana man arrested over unsolved murder of 13-year-old

A 30-year-old Louisiana man is in custody after being arrested on murder charges in an unsolved case that dragged on for nearly 13 years.

The Tangipahoa County Sheriff’s Office said police arrested Montreuil Page Sr. on charges of second-degree murder in connection with the death of 22-year-old Jamin Robinson, who was found July 25, 2010 on the side of a road in Independence.

It was initially thought to be the victim who fled the scene and was left for dead, but investigators later discovered that Robinson had died from a blunt force hit to the back of the head, according to The Daily Star.

Paige was arrested on February 10 in Chambers County, Texas. He also faces multiple failure to appear charges and one failure to appear on bail. Information about the bond was not immediately available and it was not known if he had a lawyer who could act on his behalf.

“While Paige’s arrest will not bring Jamin back, we hope it brings a sense of peace and fulfillment to his family and friends. Justice has finally been served,” said Tangipahoa County Sheriff Jimmy Travis.

The motive for the murder has not been reported.

In 2010, Page reported that she found Robinson unconscious near a roadside ditch. Robinson had no open wounds, and investigators found no blood at the scene.

Robins later died at University Hospital in New Orleans. The Tangipahoa County Coroner’s Office found that Robinson died of internal blunt head injuries “consistent with being hit by a slow moving vehicle.”

Since 2010, police have been investigating the alleged hit-and-run case as a homicide.

Recently, a witness came forward in the case, prompting detectives to arrest Paige, who was previously believed to have an interest in Robinson’s death.
