Live Stream: Tarrant warning for ‘destructive’ winds up to 80 mph

All of North Texas is under tornado watch until 10 p.m. as storms with the possibility of heavy rainfall, damaging winds, heavy hail and tornadoes approach Metroplex.

Storm Prediction Center of the National Weather Service shows “Moderate“Severe weather risk in Metroplex and most of North Texas. This will be the result of a powerful storm system moving into North Texas from the west in the late afternoon.

The NWS said Thursday afternoon and evening threats include heavy hail, damaging winds up to 50 mph, isolated flash floods in low-lying or flood-prone areas, and the possibility of violent tornadoes.

NBC 5 Chief Meteorologist Rick Mitchell said that after several point storms, a continuous band of severe thunderstorms is expected to develop in the afternoon, moving through the area from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

The line will move quickly and storms should move out of the region late Thursday evening. Showers possible early Friday morning.

A Tornado Clock valid for all North Texas until 10:00 pm for Collin, Dallas, Delta, Denton, Ellis, Erath, Fannin, Grayson, Hood, Hopkins, Hunt, Johnson, Kaufman, Lamar, Navarro, Parker, Raines, Rockwall, Somervell, Tarrant County and Van Zandt.

A Severe Thunderstorm Warning valid until 6:15 p.m. for Comanche County, with radar-read winds as high as 60 mph and radar-read hail as low as one inch.

A Severe Thunderstorm Warning valid until 6:30 p.m. for Denton and Wise counties, with radar winds up to 60 mph and radar readings of nearly one inch hail.

A Severe Thunderstorm Warning valid until 6:30 p.m. for Tarrant County with radar-tagged “destructive” winds up to 80 mph and hail up to 3/4 inch on radar.

A Severe Thunderstorm Warning valid until 6:45 pm for Erath, Hood, and Somervell counties with radar reading up to 60 mph winds and up to 3/4 inch hail.

A Severe Thunderstorm Warning valid until 18:45 for Mills with radar indicated winds up to 60 mph and hail up to about 3/4 inch.

A Severe Thunderstorm Warning valid until 6:45 pm for Hamilton County with radar-specified winds up to 60 mph and hail up to 3/4 inch.

A Severe thunderstorm hours valid until 7:00 pm for Cook, Itland, Jack, Montagu, Palo Pinto, Stevens, Wise and Young counties. Hours include the cities of Bowie, Breckenridge, Bridgeport, Cisco, Decatur, Eastland, Gainesville, Gorman, Graham, Jacksborough, Mineral Wells, Nocona, Olney and Ranger.
