Leftist riot in Atlanta, police car set on fire, windows smashed
Far-left protesters rioted in downtown Atlanta Saturday night, setting fire to a police car and smashing office windows.
The protest reportedly began as a “mostly peaceful” demonstration in response to the death of 26-year-old activist Manuel Teran, who was killed during a police sweep on Wednesday “in what the Georgia Bureau of Investigation said was a shootout with police. wounded member of the state,” — stated in the message. The protest eventually turned violent, with a police car set on fire and businesses hacked into. Police have responded to several instances of damage to property on Peachtree Street. The Atlanta Police Foundation also had its glass doors smashed.

“Currently, several arrests have been made, order has been restored in the city center. This is still an active and ongoing investigation and we will not be able to provide details on the number of arrests or property damage at this time,” the Atlanta Police Department told reporters.
Mayor Andre Dickens also said at the police conference, “Thanks to the swift action of our public safety officers working together, order was quickly restored.”
“The City of Atlanta and the Atlanta Police Department will not, I won’t we tolerate it and continue to defend the right to peaceful protest. We will not tolerate violence or destruction of property,” he added.
