‘It’s true’: Buffalo Wild Wings sarcastically responds to boneless wings lawsuit

Buffalo Wild Wings acknowledges what most customers already know: their boneless wings are not made from real chicken wings.

“That’s true,” the restaurant chain wrote on Monday. “Our boneless wings are white meat chicken.”

But their sarcasm didn’t end there.

“Our hamburgers do not contain ham. Our buffalo wings do not contain buffalo meat,” the company added.

The backlash came after a Chicago man sued the restaurant for misleading marketing, saying boneless wings are essentially chicken nuggets and customers are paying too much for them.

Last week, Aymen Halim filed a complaint against the restaurant and Inspire Brands, Inc. in the United States District Court for Northern Illinois.

According to court documents obtained by FOX, Halim contends that the “boneless wings” are not actually part of a chicken wing, but are “chicken breast slices deep fried like wings.”

“This clear case of false advertising should not be allowed as consumers should be able to rely on the mere meaning of a product name and get what they are promised,” the lawsuit says.

Halim also argued that if consumers knew what boneless wings were made of, they would pay less, if at all, for them.

Halim claimed to have bought the boneless wings in January, but after learning what they are made of, he said he regretted his decision.

“As a result, Mr. Halim suffered financial damage as a result of the false and misleading behavior of the defendants,” the lawsuit states.

The lawsuit stated that the restaurant chain began selling boneless wings around 2003, and they have become one of the most popular items on the menu.

The lawsuit cites a New York Times article saying that the practice of selling boneless “wings” arose from the rising cost of real chicken wings and the declining cost of chicken breasts.

Halim is suing for false and misleading business practices, among other things.

This story was reported from Los Angeles.
