‘It Strengthened My Faith’: Arlington Dog Brutal Attack Victim Tells Miraculous Recovery Story

“I made me stronger, it strengthened my faith and taught me what my purpose in life is,” Terrence Marshall told WFAA.

ARLINGTON, Texas. If you recognize Terrence Marshall’s name, it’s probably because you read that he was attacked by dogs earlier this month in Arlington.

But it turns out that his most recent scars are far from the first.

“[The dog attack]it’s just another obstacle in my life,” he told WFAA.

Marshall’s first obstacle came at an early age. He was born without a fully functioning right eye and needed several corneal transplants.

“I had an eye patch,” Marshall said.

“The kids laughed at me.”

Then, when he was only 15 years old, Marshall said he had a stroke. Doctors discovered and removed a brain tumor, and as a teenager he had to re-learn how to walk and talk.

“I just had the will to live,” he said.

Marshall then decided to devote himself to saving the lives of others and became a CPR instructor.

But he never expected to have to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation on his 19-year-old wife.

“Three years ago I lost my wife,” Marshall told WFAA. “Her heart stopped.”

“Losing my best friend, it was heartbreaking…but I can handle it.”

Marshall said he wanted to share his struggles with the world.

“To make people understand that with any obstacle you may face, you can overcome obstacles,” he said.

“If I can do it, you can do it.”

In addition to training in CPR and working for a security company, Marshall also works as a motivational speaker.

“I don’t want anyone to feel sorry for me…” he continued.

“I want them to look at me as a vessel in which they can be strong, take me as an example.”

Despite having endured so many tragedies, Marshall is full of optimism and gratitude.

“I always know that there is always someone who is in a worse situation than me, but if they can do it, I can do it. If they can survive, I can survive.”

According to Marshall, he still cannot work or drive regularly while he recovers.

Marshall organized an online campaign to raise funds for medical expenses.
