Indiana prosecutors say Delphi murder suspect Richard Allen should not be released on bail

Prosecutors are asking an Indiana judge to deny bail to Delphi murder suspect Richard Allen, according to court documents.

Allen, 50, is accused of killing two teenage girls — Liberty “Libby” Herman, 14, and Abigail Williams, 13 — on or about February 13, 2017, while walking on a popular local trail in Delphi.

“The state believes the evidence points to guilt in actual murder, for which bail can be denied outright,” prosecutors said in response to Allen’s bail request. “What the State believes is that this evidence shows that the defendant committed the crime of murder.”

Allen’s bail was initially set at $20 million following his October 2022 arrest, and he filed a bail petition on November 21, 2022, arguing that evidence of guilt was not clear.
