Incredible recall: Colgate-Palmolive recalls 4.9 million cleaning products due to bacterial risk

Colgate-Palmolive 4.9 million bottles recalled of its multi-purpose cleaners due to the risk of exposure to bacteria, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).

IN warningposted Wednesday, federal regulatory agency said consumers should stop using the recalled Fabuloso Multi-Purpose Cleaner products “immediately”.

The agency warned that the recalled products “may contain Pseudomonas species, including Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Pseudomonas fluoresceins.”

According to the warning, these are environmental organisms, widely distributed in soil and water, which can be inhaled, through the eyes or through skin lesions.

Healthy people usually do not under the influence of bacteria.

However, some people, including those with weakened immune systems, external medical devices, or underlying lung conditions, are at “risk of serious infection that may require medical treatment” if exposed, the warning says.

A multi-purpose cleaner designed to clean most residential hard surfaces was sold online at Amazon and various retailers nationwide including Dollar General, Family Dollar, The Home Depot, Sam’s Club, Walmart from December 2022.

Affected cleaners come in a variety of scents and bottle sizes. They can be identified by the first eight digits of their batch codes: 2348US78 to 2365US78 and 30001US78 to 3023US78.

The notice states that no other Fabuloso products are subject to the recall.

Consumers are encouraged to contact Colgate-Palmolive for a full refund or free product replacement and to take a photo of the product’s UPC and lot code before discarding it.
