Heat Shelters in North Texas Open as Winter Comes

Several warming centers will open in North Texas as winter weather approaches the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

We have a list of places that open their doors to keep people out of the cold.

Arlington

Arlington Life Shelter started taking people on Tuesday at 2:00 pm.

The shelter is located at 325 West Division Street.

The Salvation Army Corps Community Center in Arlington was also activated due to inclement weather on Sunday and will remain open throughout the night.

The Corpus Community Center is located at 712 W Abram St, Arlington, TX 76013.

The JE & LE Mabee Social Services Center is also on standby should more space be needed.

Richardson

Richardson opens the police department lobby at 200 N. Greenville Avenue.

The doors will open at 17:00 and will remain open until they are no longer needed.

plano

The town of Plano says the night heating station will be open tonight.

The station is located on the Salvation Army Plano at 3528 E. 14th St.

Doors to the heating point are closed at 22:00.

Garland

The Salvation Army is opening the Garland Corps community center today due to inclement weather.

It is located at 451 W Avenue D, Garland, TX 75040.

GLOWS in Garland is also opening a Salvation Army boys and girls club gym shelter. It will open at 5:30 pm and run until 7:00 am.

It is located at 435 S. Fifth St.

Mckinney

On Saturday, the Salvation Army opened the McKinney Corps community center due to inclement weather. It will remain open from tonight until tomorrow.

It is located at 600 Wilson Creek Pkwy, McKinney, TX 75069.

Denton

In Denton, The Salvation Army Community Center will be open from 4:00 pm to 7:00 am Wednesday.

It is located at 1508 E McKinney St, Denton, TX 76209.

Lewisville

The Lewisville Salvation Army will be open from 8:00 pm to 8:00 am.

It is located at 880 Fox Ave. Lewisville, TX 75067.
