Have you seen this truck? Police release new video and images as part of investigation into fatal attack and escape

Rome police have released a new video of a truck they say was involved in the deadly crash that killed a Decatur man last Friday.

Police say the driver of a pickup truck pulling a trailer forced Jerry Newton and his 2014 Harley Davidson motorcycle off U.S. Route 287 between Pioneer Road and State Route 114 and fled the scene. 55-year-old Newton did not survive the injuries.

Police in Rome say the pickup driver fled west on SH 114 and turned north on Derting Road in Aurora.

The pickup truck and trailer were filmed on CCTV, giving the police much clearer images.

The car is a four-door Ford truck of a new model, possibly an F250 or F350, with an aftermarket front bumper and a hood scoop with parking lights under the hood line. It has dark gray or black wheels.

The truck was pulling a black trailer with mixed wheels. The front wheel of the trailer on the driver’s side is white and the rear wheel is grey. On the passenger side, the front wheel is gray and the rear wheel is white.

The trailer contained a black and white asphalt roller or similar equipment with a high bar behind the seat.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Rome Police Department at tel. 817-636-2400 or mail to the Wise County Sheriff’s Office at 940-627-5971.

The Roma Police Department, along with the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Texas Rangers, are continuing their investigation.
