Harris County, City of Houston hosts its 3rd gun buyback event in Northeast Houston.

HOUSTON — Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez and Commissioner Rodney Ellis, along with the City of Houston, held their third gun buyback event Saturday.

Residents can turn their guns into gift cards by leaving them at Alexander Deussen Park, located at 12303 Sonnier Street in northeast Houston.

Officials said the event did not accept ghost or custom-made pistols.

The organizers reminded the owners to unload the weapon before arrival and transport it in the trunk of the car.

The number of gift cards was limited and ranged from $50 to $200 depending on the type of weapon.
