Habitual offender released on $1 bail returns to jail after allegedly violating bail

“I’ve never seen anything like this before,” defense attorney Emily Detoto said. “When you first told me about this, I thought you were joking.

Many defense attorneys would probably like to see 232nd Criminal Circuit Judge Josh Hill provide his clients with $1 bonds.

By law, Hill could not give 43-year-old Aubrey Taylor a bail or personal bail because he is charged with violent crimes.

So Hill did the following.

“Part of that decision was that Senate Bill 6 does not allow personal commitments or personal commitments in such cases,” Hill said during Wednesday’s hearing.

Taylor, a hardened criminal with a long record, is charged with aggravated kidnapping and assaulting a family member by making it hard to breathe.

Taylor’s lawyer told Hill that the woman involved was not trustworthy and Taylor was the real victim.

“He is very afraid of her and knows that she knows where he lives, which worries him and his own safety,” the lawyer told the court.

“We believe he poses a danger to the victim and now to society as a whole,” the prosecutor told Judge Hill.

Taylor apparently didn’t live up to his end of the dollar store referee’s incredible deal.

“I have reviewed the violation notice that Taylor did not comply with the conditions of house arrest,” he said from the bench.

That’s why this hearing was held.

The state accuses Taylor of failing to comply with the conditions of house arrest.

Taylor will remain in jail until next Wednesday, when Hill will hold bail revocation hearings.

The judge will decide whether Taylor remains behind bars or receives another bail.
