GRAPHIC: Mexican cartel gunmen kill a waiter for preventing a previous grenade attack

A Mexican restaurant waiter who disarmed a cartel gunman in a grenade attack has been killed in retaliation after prosecutors declined to file charges against the attackers last week.

The attack took place in Colima at the Mariscos Puerto De Veracruz seafood restaurant. On the day of the first attack, cartel operatives arrived at the restaurant on motorcycles and pelted the patrons with grenades.

One of the waiters jumped on one of the militants, disarmed him and held him until the police arrived.

Throwing two grenades, the militants tried to escape. Several food delivery drivers managed to surround one of the militants, beating him until the police arrived at the scene.

Law enforcement sources told Breitbart Texas that prosecutors released the gunmen almost immediately because they could not be brought before a judge with clear evidence of beatings before arrest.

Shortly after being released, the gunmen returned to the restaurant and shot the employee as she was walking home.

Law enforcement sources told Breitbart Texas that the attacks are related to extortion by Los Mezcales, a criminal organization spun off from Cartel Jalisco New Generation.

The restaurant owner posted an ad on social media about the attack and asked for support and prayers. Breitbart Texas learned that a business owner refuses to pay for extortion even after grenades.

Editor’s Note: Breitbart Texas has traveled to the Mexican states of Tamaulipas, Coahuila, Nuevo León and other regions to hire citizen journalists willing to risk their lives to expose the cartels that are silencing their communities. Chronicles of the Breitbart Texas Cartel published both in English and in the original Spanish.
