Frisco inaugurates new high-tech public library

FRISCO (CBSNewsTexas.com) The city of Frisco is getting a much-needed high-tech addition this weekend.

The brand new Frisco Public Library opened its doors Saturday morning with a ribbon cutting ceremony. A large crowd of more than 300 people came to the grand opening and saw the object for the first time.

The new building, which used to be a rocket parts factory, is about 150,000 square feet. This is more than three times the size of the original library.

Many brought their children and other family members to check out the new features. Some of the high-tech offerings include self-service checkouts, a robotics center, new sorting yards, and a creative space with a show kitchen.

There’s also a huge Tyrannosaurus rex skeleton if you’re into dinosaurs.

As part of the opening ceremony, chefs and other special guests performed. They showed how the new features can be used for learning through experimentation and hands-on learning.

The new library is located at 8000 Dallas Pkwy, adjacent to the Frisco Discovery Center. It will offer regular business hours and full service starting Sunday, March 5th.
