Fort Worth Stock Show and Pink Rodeo

Tuesday, Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo Turned Pink draw attention to breast cancer and raise money for a local non-profit organization called care fundwhich helps patients with early detection and treatment.

“Because, unfortunately, in our entire lives, too many people have suffered from cancer,” Victoria Gonzalez said. “I had breast cancer. I had invasive plastic carcinoma.”

Gonzalez was a single mother with no health insurance when she was diagnosed in October 2020. She said the Careity Foundation helped pay for her mammograms and treatment, helped her find a doctor, and supported her in her fight against cancer.

“When you discover this information initially, when you’re diagnosed, it’s surreal,” Gonzalez said. “I can honestly say that I wouldn’t be here right now if it wasn’t for them.”

Gonzalez now works for the Careity Foundation, helping other cancer patients as a patient consultant.

“I started volunteering because I wanted to repay everything Careity has done to help me on my journey,” Gonzalez said. “So cancer is something. It will sound very strange, but I considered it a gift,” said Gonzalez.

A gift because now she can help Careity Foundation patients by knowing what they go through fighting cancer.

“I can honestly say that this is a journey that I am proud of,” Gonzalez said. “I’m glad I passed.”

The Careity Foundation helps patients with all types of cancer.
