Fort Worth Police Officer Arrested on Child Sexual Abuse Charges

Fort Worth, Texas. A Fort Worth police officer has been arrested on charges of persistent sexual abuse of a small child, the department said.

Police said that on November 2, 2022, the department responded to a report of sexual assault involving a minor and that a Fort Worth officer was identified as a suspect.

Officer Raymond Lara, who had been with the department for three years, was placed on limited duty and stripped of all police powers during the investigation.

Fort Worth Police announced that Lara was arrested without incident and placed in jail on Thursday, February 2, 2023. He was charged with the ongoing sexual abuse of a small child.

“The Fort Worth Police Department expects high standards from its officers, both on and off duty, and does not tolerate criminal misconduct or unethical behavior,” the department said in a statement.

Further details of the case involving Lara have not been released as the investigation continues.
