Former dancehall catches on fire on the northeast side

The building used to be the dancehall Midnight Rodeo. As of right now, it appears that the smoke has spread throughout the inside of the building.

SAN ANTONIO — Fire officials are on scene of the former dancehall, Midnight Rodeo, after it caught on fire Wednesday morning.

Fire crews first arrived on the scene a little before 4:30 a.m. and smoke was seen coming out of the building. The cause of the fire was not given.

Officials with the San Antonio Fire Department said it’s possible the fire started around 11 p.m. Tuesday or 12 a.m. Wednesday. They also said there is evidence of homelessness in the building.

Crews are waiting for the roof to burn through even more and are attacking fire defensively.

Right now, it is not believed that anyone is inside but officials said they won’t know until they go in. There were no reported firefighter injuries.

There weren’t much more details given, but the story will be updated when more information is received.
