Former Arlington private school administrator arrested for sex with student

A former private school administrator in Arlington has been charged after he was accused of having sex with a student.

On Monday, Oak Ridge School sent out a letter to parents about David Langwell, a former principal and current parent.

A 52-year-old man was arrested last week for online molestation of a minor and sexual abuse of a child under the age of 17.

Oak Ridge School said the alleged incident happened to a high school student after Langwell quit his job at the school.

He worked from 2011 to 2020 but left for reasons unrelated to student safety, the school said.

“To the best of our knowledge, there was no inappropriate physical contact with any student on the Oak Ridge campus, nor during his time at Oak Ridge School,” the letter to the parents said.

Languel has been effectively banned from campus since February 2022, when the school became aware of the allegations.

The Oak Ridge School said it could not release details of the investigation until charges were filed.

Langwell was jailed in Arlington last Thursday and later released on bail.
