Florida Highway Patrol Claims Victory in National Contest for Best Looking Cruiser

ORLANDO, Fla. – In a recent survey conducted by the American Association of State Troopers, it has been revealed that the Florida Highway Patrol boasts the most aesthetically appealing cruiser in the entire country. The organization, having concluded its “Best Looking Cruiser” national contest, made the announcement on Monday, affirming Florida’s supremacy in this regard.

The contest invited regional state troopers from across the nation to submit photographs of their most visually impressive patrol vehicles, each representing their respective states. This year, the Florida Highway Patrol seized the opportunity to showcase one of their most remarkable vehicles at Gatorland, an iconic theme park in Florida, featuring their star alligator, Tamale.

The captivating photoshoot, orchestrated by retired FHP Lieutenant Jeff Frost, prominently featured a stunning 2019 Dodge Chrysler adorned in FHP’s revered colors of black and tan. The shoot took place within a serene, grassy area within the expansive 110-acre theme park, capturing the essence of Florida’s natural beauty.

According to the AAST Foundation, the contest captivated an extensive audience, amassing a staggering 2.9 million engagements on Facebook alone, from July 17 through July 30. Florida unequivocally triumphed with an impressive 181,071 votes, securing a decisive victory. Following Florida in the rankings were the states of California, Nevada, Indiana, and Kentucky.

As a result of this resounding victory, Florida’s winning entry will occupy the prestigious cover of the Best Looking Trooper Cruisers 2024 AAST Wall Calendar. It is noteworthy that the proceeds from this highly acclaimed contest will significantly contribute to the AAST Foundation, enabling them to provide valuable educational scholarships to the dependents of member troopers.

Tamale, an awe-inspiring resident of Gatorland, played an integral role during the presentation. This 15-year-old American alligator measures an impressive 8.5 feet in length and weighs a staggering 180 pounds. Tamale spends her days in the idyllic alligator paradise, alongside over 120 of her fellow captivating reptilian counterparts.

Mark McHugh, the President and CEO of Gatorland, expressed delight at the partnership and the opportunity to showcase Florida’s extraordinary wildlife, particularly Tamale. McHugh conveyed his enthusiasm, stating, “We are thrilled that FHP wanted to partner with Gatorland to showcase Florida’s natural wildlife and our magnificent Tamale.”
