Florida couple open Phantom History House, ‘creepy but comfortable’ B&B

WESTCHASE, Florida (WFTS) — There is a coffin in the bathroom.

Ouija board on the wall.

Creepy clowns watch you sleep.

And the disturbing portrait at the front door just might be possessed.

Welcome to Phantom History House, a brand new “creepy yet comfortable, creepy yet elegant” bed and breakfast in Westchase.

This elaborate hotel is owned and operated by playfully smart innkeepers Steve Blanchard and Tim Hinton. It features four themed rooms, each with an otherworldly bathroom: the Cemetery Room, the Portrait Room, the Ouija Room and the Castle Room, the latter with remote control. control candles.

Room rates start at $175 per night and include a continental breakfast and complimentary ghost stories from the hosts.

“We like to think we’re modern Victorian with a bit of gothic,” said Blanchard, who also hosts a podcast about the paranormal.

Hinton, who looks more like a Disney guy than a ghost hunter, said: “It’s like a haunted movie, but upscale and elegant.”

Blanchard and Hinton worked not only during the daytime, but also worked overtime to make sure the Phantom History House experience is both immersive and upscale, with eerie thrills keeping pace with the amenities.

For more adventurous guests, hosts often bring psychics and tarot card readers. Although, if someone just wants a cool room for the night, that’s fine with them too.

“And if you want to tell us that ghost story when you were a little kid,” Blanchard said, “we’d love to hear it.”
