Favorite pi bar and pizzeria in San Francisco closes

Don’t wait for Pi Day to head to the Pi Bar. Beloved pizzeria and bar Mission signaled it would close soon by posting a photo of the ownership transfer notice on her Instagram account on Friday.

The combo store and tavern has been a popular establishment on Valencia Street between 25th and 26th Streets for over a decade. Pi Bar was known for offering specialty pizzas based on the number pi, including $3.14 slices from 3:14 pm to 6:28 pm.

“Thanks to SO many of you for your support and love over the past 13 years!” — wrote the owners of the restaurant in the post. “We’ve had a lot of holidays together, birthdays, marriages and kids, and it was all part of what made Pi Bar so special.”

Husband and wife co-owners Rich Rosen and Jan Harris attributed the closure to the economically difficult times of the pandemic. But there’s still time to grab a bite and raise a glass at the pizzeria, as Rosen and Harris told SFGATE they’ll close the store at the end of February.

“Hopefully we will see many of you in the next few weeks as we wrap up the work! Cheers!” Pi Bar is sad in his post.
