Reno man accused of fatal shooting also charged with child sexual abuse

RENO, TX (CBSDFW.COM) — A North Texas man charged with murder in a shootout that left one dead has also been charged with child sexual abuse, law enforcement officials said Wednesday.

On January 18, 2023, Reno police announced that Floyd Levy Nunley, 57, faces three aggravated child sexual abuse charges and one murder charge in connection with the July 26, 2022 shooting.

In the 1000 Shady Lane block of Reno, police officers arrived on a call about a dead man, according to police. When they arrived, investigators found 63-year-old Rodney Dale Tallant dead in his home with a gunshot wound to the head.

The police began to search the property and eventually found Nunley hiding in a barn. He was detained as the investigation continued.

Eventually, the police learned that Nunley had committed other murder-related crimes in an unincorporated portion of Tarrant County and referred the investigation to the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office. Their investigation resulted in Nunley being charged with three counts of aggravated sexual abuse of a child and the murder of Tallant on Tuesday.

“It was a complex investigation with many moving parts, and it was further complicated by the number of people at the scene when the officers arrived. Reno investigators exercised due diligence by exhausting all investigative avenues before filing charges in this case,” Reno Deputy Chief said. Police Nathan Stringer.

Nunley is currently being held on $400,000 bond in Fort Worth.
