Father fatally stabs 9-year-old son in McKinney, police say

MCKINNEY, Texas — A McKinney man is facing capital murder charges after police said he stabbed his son to death. 

McKinney Police said the incident happened at 4 p.m. Friday at a home in the 700 block of Anson Court. A neighbor called 911 to report that a woman had found her son unconscious and bleeding inside of the home. 

When officers arrived, McKinney Police said, they found a man “in the act of inflicting self-harm with a knife.” The child, 9, was found in the garage with multiple stab wounds, police said.

The boy was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said the father was taken into custody and transported to a hospital for treatment. Capital murder charges are pending against the father, police said.

McKinney Police said there is no threat to the public, which they believe was domestic in nature. 

No other details about the incident were released.
