Family shot dead, killed in murder-suicide before being evicted from foreclosed home: police

The police believe that mother from Ohio is responsible for a brutal murder-suicide that left four dead just moments before local police arrived at the family’s home to serve eviction papers.

The Claremont County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release that “material evidence” and the “location of the deceased” led investigators to believe Teresa Kane, 46, shot and killed three members of her family on 27 February.

Shortly before the police arrived at Cain’s home in Ohio, a suburb of Cincinnati, the police heard a series of five quick shots. The deputies made several attempts to contact those inside, but to no avail. Instead, the Sheriff’s Special Response Team was called to the scene and entered the house.

One day, the police found five bodies inside the house. Stephen Caine, 50, Theresa Caine, 46, William Felton, 74, and Ethan Caine, 13, were found dead, according to the report. Authorities also found Teresa’s 20-year-old daughter, Samantha Kane, still alive. On Wednesday, March 1, police said Samantha was still in critical condition at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center following the incident.

Claremont County Sheriff Steve Leahy says they believe the shots were fired to keep deputies from entering. Leahy believes that Stephen Caine was shot dead in the basement about 30 minutes ago, and Teresa’s father, her son Ethan and daughter Samantha were shot shortly before the deputies arrived.

“I’ve been here for almost 32 years and this is probably the worst crime scene what I was on at that time period,” Leahy told FOX 19 Cincinnati

OHIO GROUP MEMBER AND FAMILY MEMBERS DIE IN MURDER-SUICIDE: POLICE

Police said the Cain family ran into financial problems leading to the eviction, leading the police to believe money was Teresa’s motive.

I am still in shock and disbelief. I have so many emotions.” Wanda Garrison, next of kin to her brother Steve Kane and his family, told Fox 19. “I’m heartbroken and of course I’m angry.”

“I can’t imagine any mother doing this to her children.” Garrison added.

Police said Samantha remains in critical condition after being shot, but cops are hoping she can clarify once she recovers.

Teresa’s husband, Steve Kane, was the vocalist for the thrash metal band Critical Khaos.

On October 25, Steve posted on the Critical Khaos Facebook page to introduce himself. In the post, he said that he was from Augusta, Georgiamoved to Connecticut in 2012 and then to Cincinnati in 2015.

His full-time job was in the management of safety and the environment at the research and development center. Cain was also the published author of 13 books, including poetry, short stories and a horror novel.

Some of Cain’s musical influences included Crimson Glory, Queensryche, King Diamond, Stryper and Prince.

Cain’s bandmates posted a link to a GoFundMe site set up by his sister’s family to help fund the funeral costs for Steven and his son Ethan.
