Family asking for answers in Hit and Run in Dallas

Dallas police are looking for a driver involved in an accident that killed a beloved mother and grandmother at the scene.

Her family is pleading for information that could lead to an arrest.

Rodney and Raven Walker said their mother, Lahuanda Graves, was the bond that held the family together. Just last week, she spent time with them planning a birthday party for one of her grandchildren.

“She was a loving mother,” Rodney Walker said. “She put her children first, she put her grandchildren first, and that’s what she cared about the most.”

She never made it to the birthday party. Dallas police said that around 8:30 p.m. Monday, Graves crossed southbound North Masters lanes near Budtime Lane in Pleasant Grove. She was hit by a driver and left downtown, where detectives say she died. The driver didn’t stop.

“It is pointless. I still can’t wrap my head around it,” Walker said.

Walker said they were told there was very little evidence, so they are pleading with the community for information that can help.

Heartache goes deep; especially for their children, who are too young to fully understand that their grandmother is gone.

“She was the rock in our family, holding everything together, so it’s a big void now,” Walker said.

Leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death or serious bodily injury is a criminal offence. Anyone with information in this case is asked to call the Dallas Police Crime Unit at (214) 671-0018.
