Ex-husband fatally stabs woman, holding her hostage at home

A tragic incident unfolded in San Antonio last week when 66-year-old Teresa Garcia was brutally stabbed to death in her own home. The suspect in this heinous crime is identified as 54-year-old Martin Garcia, the ex-husband of the victim. The motive behind this shocking act is believed to be jealousy.

The son of the victim, Michael Garcia, expressed his devastation and revealed that Martin had been a part of his life since he was 14, even though he is not his biological father. Michael firmly stated that he could never forgive him for what he had done to his mother. Describing the situation, he said, “She was a hostage in her own home.”

Despite their separation in 2018, Teresa still allowed Martin to live with her. According to Michael, their relationship had been tumultuous over the years, but this time, Teresa had made up her mind to move on. Unfortunately, she never got the chance as she was tragically killed.

Michael shared that on the day of the incident, he had spoken to both his mother and Martin and learned that she was in the process of moving out. He recalled Martin’s chilling words, “If I can’t have her, no one will,” indicating his possessive and dangerous mindset.

The San Antonio police revealed that Teresa had sustained multiple stab wounds. Martin was taken to the hospital before eventually being booked in the Bexar County Jail, where he is facing a murder charge. Michael expressed his anguish, stating that Martin took advantage of his mother’s kind heart and, when he realized he had lost his last connection to a normal life, he decided to take her life as well.

Michael further revealed that his mother had previously called the police in an attempt to evict Martin, but she was unaware of the proper steps to do so. She hesitated to seek help from family or friends, fearing that it would land them in trouble.

As the family prepares to bid farewell to Teresa, they will lay her to rest next to Michael’s daughter, who tragically lost her life to COVID two years ago. This funeral will serve as Michael’s final gift to his mother for Christmas.

Meanwhile, Martin Garcia remains incarcerated in the Bexar County Jail, with a bond set at $200,000. The community mourns the loss of Teresa Garcia, a woman who saw the best in people but fell victim to a devastating act of violence.
