East Austin Shells gas station employee arrested for murder: APD

Austin, Texas – The Austin Police Department (APD) has arrested a 25-year-old man for murder following a shooting in East Austin.
Police said officers responded to shooting at a Shell gas station at 4509 E Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard around 11:14 p.m. on January 21.
When the officers arrived, they found the 42-year-old Marquis Demps in a car in the parking lot of a gas station with gunshot wounds to his body. Police said Demps died at the scene.
During the investigation, detectives determined that Demps was involved in an altercation with a Shell employee, 25-year-old Yasin Naz, during which Naz shot and killed Demps.
Yasin Naz was arrested for murder and imprisoned in the Travis County Jail.
