Duplex in New York is up for sale for $175 million in America’s most expensive tower

Maybe New York is really back.

According to StreetEasy’s stunning listing update, the 12,557-square-foot duplex penthouse at Central Park Tower has been listed for sale for a stratospheric $175 million.

While that nine-figure figure might make it seem like this seven-bedroom nest is the most expensive in town, it’s actually second best.

In the same building, located at 217 W. 57th St., a $250 million penthouse was listed for sale last September. Spanning floors 129-131 of the 1,550-foot building, this 17,545-square-foot triplex remains the highest-grossing home for sale in New York.

If this larger and higher-lying penthouse sells for such a sky-high price, it would break the record for the most expensive home sale in the country, set in early 2019 by hedge fund titan Ken Griffin for about $238 million at the exclusive 220 Central Park South located nearby.

However, this $175 million home on the 107th and 108th floors is nothing special – StreetEasy data shows it is the second most expensive home for sale in the five boroughs.

The listing images show bare interiors, but the home’s massive windows frame incomparable views of the city—including all of Central Park from the spiral staircase, the Empire State Building and World Trade Center from the grand saloon, One Vanderbilt from the kitchen, and the Hudson River. from the spa tub. (The room also has a view of the East River.)

Its benefits also include two 240-square-foot terraces, an upscale chef’s kitchen, and an adjacent breakfast area. Elsewhere there is a conservatory, a home office that can also serve as a library, and five bedrooms located on the second level.

Meanwhile, the $250 million home cemented Central Park Tower’s reputation as the most expensive building in the country.

Rising 1,416 feet above street level, this block has nearly 18,000 square feet of indoor space and over 1,400 square feet of outdoor space.

Its own features include an observatory, library, media room, serving kitchen with breakfast/family room, professional grade kitchen with separate service entrance, and a private office. On the second level you can find all five bedrooms.

Ryan Serhant of the eponymous brokerage Serhant owns this listing.

“That’s so high, you’re above the noise,” Serhant told The Post of the offer at the time of its listing. “When you’re on the terrace, you don’t hear anything – maybe the plane, but that’s all. You are above sound. It’s so serene. It’s magical. You are at an altitude of 1400 feet and come out on your own terrace, surrounded by a huge glass wall. There has never been anything like it.”
