Drivers say potholes in Dallas are dangerous in some places

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) “In the weeks after the winter storm, avoiding landmines on the roads became nearly impossible. While crews are repairing potholes, some drivers say the situation has become critical and dangerous.

Squealing brakes and horns are a 24-hour phenomenon on Preston Road and Deloach Avenue in Dallas. Brooke Bremer said she almost witnessed an accident on her daily route on Tuesday morning.

“One of the cars, I think there were two in front of me, braked hard right in the center lane, forcing everyone else to brake and try to swerve because there was a huge pothole right in the middle,” she said. said.

While some were left over from an ice storm earlier this month and some from utility repairs, drivers said they could injure someone.

A city spokesman said they are aware of the pothole problem and are working to fix it. This includes working with TxDOT to determine who is responsible for specific potholes. Hundreds of potholes have been overcome in North Texas cities since the ice storm, but many drivers say it can’t happen soon enough.

“It seems that everywhere I go, there is a pothole that needs to be avoided,” Bremer said. “I just know that this particular area needs to be addressed quickly because the machines will get damaged and accidents will happen.”

The city said the dangerous potholes, which could cause serious damage to vehicles, are being repaired within 24 hours of receiving the report. Non-hazardous potholes less than 3 feet by 3 feet in diameter are usually repaired within three business days. City officials have asked if it is dangerous to call 311 instead of reporting it online. They say that in this way they can solve the problem as soon as possible.
