Disney goers wait four hours for Splash Mountain before the attraction closes.

Visitors flocked to Walt Disney World in Orlando and waited up to four hours for one last ride on the Splash before the popular attraction closed for good on Sunday.

Fans queued for a record 220 minutes, according to Thrill Data, a website that tracks waiting times at rides and theme park rides.

The information is provided by the news site Deadline.

According to Thrill Data, the previous record for the longest waiting time before visiting Splash Mountain was 210 minutes and was set in 2020.

Walt Disney World has closed Splash Mountain, which will be replaced by Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, based on the 2009 film The Princess and the Frog. The new attraction is expected to be introduced at the end of 2024.

Disney theme park visitors have posted videos on social media showing crowds of people waiting to enter Splash Mountain.

A Disney-themed news site posted a video of crowds singing the signature song “Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah” during the latest trip to Splash Mountain.

It is said that those who made the last trip were Disney “actors” or park employees.

As the ride approached its terminus, attendees applauded as they recorded the historic moment.

Last month, Disney announced it would be scrapping the 33-year-old Splash Mountain after criticism that the ride and the movie it’s based on, Song of the South, released in 1946, had “racist overtones.”

Song of the South, a live-action and animated musical drama set on a plantation in Georgia, has been criticized by some for offering a romanticized look at the South during Reconstruction.

In March 2020, Disney CEO Robert Iger stated that the film would not be available to watch on the Disney+ streaming service, stating that its “outdated cultural depictions” make the film “out of place in today’s world”.

Disney has decided to “redesign” its Splash Mountain ride into one that pays homage to New Orleans’ history and heritage.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will offer visitors the chance to “join Princess Tiana and jazz-loving alligator Louie during Mardi Gras season as they prepare to host a one-of-a-kind celebration for the people of New Orleans,” a Disney spokesperson said.

Some Disney fans are looking to capitalize on the closure of Splash Mountain. Sellers on eBay were offering what they called “Splash Mountain Water” in four-ounce cans for $149 each. The purchase price includes free shipping.

While Splash Mountain is no longer at Disney World, visitors can still ride at Disneyland Anaheim.

The park did not say when they plan to close the attraction.
